Health Connections Center is Philadelphia's oldest Natural Holistic Healing Health Spa, located conveniently just off of South st on 2nd st. One of Health Connections Center's most popular services is colon therapy.
If your colon is not functioning properly (and most people do not have a properly functioning colon), nothing will effectively get rid of -- tiredness, lack of energy, and that all-to-familiar feeling of depletion; a variety of stomach disorders will occur, and a host of maladies will gradually beset your body. It's that simple.
The colon is one of the most important (but unfortunately least talked about) organs in our body. When a healthy colon operates normally, toxic waste gets eliminated, instead of backing up into the system. If it is not working well, the entire body suffers and health deteriorates.
These are a few examples of unhealthy colons: Colon with colitis and a Colon with prolapsus (pressure on lower organs), and spasms.

HEALTH AND THE COLON
Good health is a desire we all have and share. While we may spend time and effort on dieting and exercise, often that is not enough. Toxic waste builds up in our colons through poor nutrition and bowel habits. This waste impairs the colon's ability to assimilate properly the minerals and vitamins we need. A buildup of material along the colon wall causes sluggish bowel movements, constipation and other problems. The poisons resulting from this waste re-enter and circulate in the blood stream, making us feel tired and depleted. The removal of this harmful waste from our bodies becomes an important element in our goal of achieving optimal physical and mental health.
As we age, our bodies accumulate the substances we are exposed to. Poisons and harmful chemicals are present in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and even the daily things we use that we give little thought to. Our bodies literally take in these poisons. The elimination of these toxins becomes an important preventative for maintaining good health.
Toxicity effects our nervous system, making us feel irritable, depressed and anxious; it effects our glands, making us tired and lacking in enthusiasm and drive; headaches, allergies and skin disorders occur; we crave sugars and starches; gassiness and bloatedness arise. Toxicity effects the way we feel emotionally and physically.
The client wears a full-length gown and lies down on his left side. A small instrument is gently inserted into the rectum. Rubber tubing begins to simultaneously carry clean water in and waste out in a mildly pressurized system. After a few minutes the client lies on his back while the session continues. Gentle abdominal massage is performed periodically on the client by a trained therapist, who administers and monitors the entire procedure. The session typically lasts anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes. Note: UNLIKE SOME OTHER COLON THERAPY PLACES, WE USE THE CLOSED SYSTEM, AND A THERAPIST IS WITH YOU DURING THE ENTIRE SESSION.
PREPARATION FOR A COLONIC
The day before your appointment:
After setting up an appointment, the client is asked to fill out a questionnaire involving health history, eating habits, emotional state, traveling habits (to determine possible source of parasitic infactions), and vitamin and nutritional supplements used. After the client's appointment, the client's progress is followed, with recommendations for a suitable nutritional program.
The first visit, which usually takes up to 1 hour and 15 minutes, and costs $95 . Should you desire to do a full detoxification program, each subsequent visit would cost $80 and last approximately an hour. A full detoxification program consists of an average of eight visits. Note: There is a $25 rebooking fee if a client fails to give 24 hour notice (48 hour for Monday appointments) for cancellation or if client fails to show up, payable in advance of next appointment.
